Professor Anke Meyer-Baese’s research topic entry has been selected as a finalist for Frontiers’ inaugural Spotlight Award. Frontiers is a community-rooted, open-access academic publisher; the Spotlight Award gives the editors of an active and innovative research topic the resources to organize a conference.
Professor Meyer-Baese’s research, Advanced graph theoretical approaches in neuroimaging of neurodegenerative disorders, seeks to gain insight into the structural and functional architecture of neural circuits and how their evolution leads to the emergence of complex changes in brain activity. By using advanced graph theoretical approaches in neuroimaging to study neurodegenerative diseases, Meyer-Baese hopes to provide a quantitative prediction of changes in the connectivity matrix as disease progresses.
The Spotlight award is $100,000, and will enable the winning research scholars to organize an international scientific conference during the first quarter of 2018 at the SwissTech Convention Center, an on-site conference and convention venue at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) Lausanne, Switzerland. The prize will cover conference organization including cost of the venue, registration, travel, and lodging for winning research scholars, promotion of the conference through the web and social media, and waivers of conference fees for contributing authors and invited speakers.
The EPFL is a university and federal research institute in Lausanne, Switzerland that specializes in physical sciences and engineering. They promote education, research and technology transfer at the highest international levels.
The winning research topic will be announced in March 2017.
